Some things are worth reaching for
“But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.” Apostle Paul
About one month ago my full time position ended with the acquisition from another company. I was not disheartened. after 48 years of work (full and part time) for 21 different companies – I. AM. DONE! I’ve been blessed with opportunities to provide for our family and give to others, but I have to be honest – it hasn’t been easy. My favorite position lasted 10 years and I had hoped to stay there until retirement, but they were sold in bankruptcy. Other positions I had were real stinkers with toxic cultures. Arrrggghhh!
The best thing I’ve taken away from those 48 years are enduring friendships. I met and became friends with many wonderful people. You know who you are.
So, is my full time career over? Yeah, I guess so. However, like the apostle Paul are we ever fully released from our “God given assignment?” May it never be. As long as I’m able I’ll do my best to keep sharing the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.” Yes, somethings are worth reaching for!
With grace,
Hal
