Bird calling
I’m moving out beyond my backyard and into the field to capture various species of birds. To help make my time more productive I’m using the Merlin bird app on my phone to call them in. I also use a small bluetooth speaker which I set up 10-15 feet away from me if possible. So far I’ve found some birds are more attracted to calls than others. Or, they just may not be in the area. Goldfinches, indigo buntings, dickcissels, common yellow throats, and mockingbirds all seem to come running when I call.
So, now I’m on the hunt for more species. And, understanding their behavior and habitat should be valuable. Stay tuned…
