Why do it?

A long time ago I became a follower of Dr. W. Edwards Deming’s (who was a follower of Jesus) management philosophy. I won’t bore with anything of that, but I will mention that one of his core principles was a business /organization must have an altruistic purpose. Meaning, there is something more important than the bottom line.

So, why do I do it? If you’ve seen any of my recent posts here, or on social media, you’ll see I’ve shared a bunch of bird portraits – hundreds of them. And, if you’ve read my bio, I’m a big fan of Maya Angelou’s quote, “There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.”

A few recent comments below from “friends” on social media are part of these “untold” stories and answer the “Why” question above. Sure, it’s nice to sell some artwork, that helps to keep me going. But, if I never sell another print, I’ll keep telling our Creator’s story and those who bear His image. Thanks for your support this past year. We look forward to sharing more in the days ahead.

Thank you for all of the amazing pictures you have shared. How lovely to have a hobby that brings so much joy.  Having stage 4 lung cancer, I don’t leave my home very often. These photos add so much to my life ❤️.

Just sent a photo/card out this morning that I had purchased from you awhile back…butterfly series. This woman has terminal cancer, and I’m sure that it will brighten her day. Just wanted to say thank you for you photography ministry!

I never was much into birds until I followed your photographs. The blue bird seems to speak to me in secret code somehow — like when she’s sewing Cinderella’s dress. I’m a fan of how your photographs make me feel.

I love everything about this picture. It gives me a moment of peace.

I'd love to hear from you.

100 Years of Hurricane Data

After the recent devastation caused by hurricane Helene I started looking at some raw data on the NOAA website. I decided to download 100 years of data, put into a spreadsheet, then extrapolate the information. What I found was very interesting so I thought I'd share some of that data with you.

Flawless

A favorite song of mine is Flawless by MercyMe. I'll share the lyrics below. I always enjoy seeing a newly emerged butterfly from its cocoon. In essence they are "flawless." Not a mark on them. Such was the case today as I saw this tiger swallowtail blow through our garden.
