As much as I enjoy making photographs…
… there is a greater purpose. I met a friend for breakfast this morning. (He is also a very talented photographer.) We had a great time together talking about what was going on in our lives currently as well as what the future may hold. During our time the topic of “gifting” came up. No, not Christmas or birthday gifts, but gifting as it relates to our calling – the way we are bent.
I brought up Rick Warren’s devotion of the day and the verse he referenced which is Ephesians 2.10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
We took joy knowing that we were created “anew in Christ” to do good things based on the gifts He bestowed upon us. That reminded me of another verse, Every good and perfect gift comes down from the Father of lights…
So, what is my “greater purpose?” To know Him and make Him known. If I can do that through my life and photography, then mission accomplished.
If you’re wondering exactly where you fit in, take your stand under the light of His glory and let the Father of light shine down and shower on you his rich and wonderful gifts.
Ps. After I got home I jumped online and wrote my friend this short note. Hey, brother. I just wanted to affirm part of your gifting – I don’t know them all, but you are such an encourager to me. I’m blessed to call you friend and brother!
