I believe some (abstract) patterns in nature are better viewed in black and white versus color. I think this is one of them. The stillness of the water combined with the white trunk and limbs of the tree provide a nice contrast to the busy pattern of the background foliage. A later post will show the opposite where color is preferred over black and white.
