“When you listen to the sound of creation, it’s amazing what you can see.”
I’ve been wandering through nature and creation most of my life. I love the natural world. And, except for indoor plumbing and electricity, I’d just as soon live in the outdoors. I think in part because it allows my spirit to bear witness with that of our Creator.
The apostle Paul writes this to the church at Colosse, “Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see… Everything was created through him and for him. He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together.
This leads me to believe the more in tune I am with the One who created it all, the more I’m able to enjoy and marvel at that which He created. This brings me to the title of this blog entry, when you listen to the sound of creation, it’s amazing what you can see. Now you maybe thinking I’ve been spending time with Yogi Berra and just created a new yogi-ism. But for me it’s actually true. The more nature I hear, the more I see. (And conversely, the more I see, the more I hear) It may be a bird singing, rain drops falling on a forest floor, or any one of a myriad of sounds found in creation – my focus becomes sharpened and new compositions begin to emerge.
As my wife and I often share with each other, “everything is connected.” You need no more evidence than to walk outside and open your eyes.
