Back lit foliage
I love seeing back lit foliage. Driving around my home area this time of year yields some spectacular sights in the early morning as the sun lights up leaves and grasses. The color saturation and contrast can make for a striking image. I like to photograph it, too. But it’s not as easy as it looks.
Here are two take-aways from this morning’s drive. My set up was 70-200mm lens, f11, 1/125, ISO 400, -1/3ev. And, I always use a tripod.
Depending on the brightness of the background you may have to adjust your exposure compensation slightly. I shot both of these at -1/3 stop. On occasion I’ve had to shoot at -1 to -2 f stops below what the camera read.
