Bebe ponders as he “wanders”

Photography doesn’t always have to be so serious – does it? I enjoy a good bit of levity as much as the next guy.

A few years ago while out making some photographs I found some nice compositions, but needed an additional element – a person! Well who is going to get up at 4am and hike it out the door with me? Yeah, I thought so – no one!

Without another body close by, I had to improvise and use… you guessed it, moi! Then it occurred to me – if I’m going to insert myself into the composition I have to come up with a pen name. Hmmm? What to call myself? Well, my grandgirls call me Bebe and I love to just wander about… that’s it! Bebe Wanders. What was once a serendipitous moment has now turned into the beginning of some playful images. So, when you see or hear the name Bebe Wanders, please know I don’t have a twin brother. One of me is enough!

For now I’ll simply go on “wandering.” But, be on the lookout, you just never know where I/he/we may show up. (Besides it’s a good learning experience for me.)

I have a handful of images of Bebe Wanders on my website. Just type the name in the search box on the bottom of my home page.

I'd love to hear from you.

100 Years of Hurricane Data

After the recent devastation caused by hurricane Helene I started looking at some raw data on the NOAA website. I decided to download 100 years of data, put into a spreadsheet, then extrapolate the information. What I found was very interesting so I thought I'd share some of that data with you.

A favorite song of mine is Flawless by MercyMe. I'll share the lyrics below. I always enjoy seeing a newly emerged butterfly from its cocoon. In essence they are "flawless." Not a mark on them. Such was the case today as I saw this tiger swallowtail blow through our garden.
