Someone’s right…
The “only way is up.”
While at the old lock and dam site on the Missouri side of the Mississippi river I took a few snaps of the remains. Off in the distance is the replacement. The sun was just coming up and the air was a cool 54 degrees.
I’ve always been intrigued by crumbling structures. I wanted to capture the new bridge framed by the old, but not have it play a prominent part of the composition. I set up my camera for vertical format with my 17-40mm wide angle lens. I think I was zoomed out to about 20mm.
There was a large amount of graffiti in the surrounds and on the concrete structure. What most caught my eye were the red letters. Using selective color I removed all of the color in the image except for the red. Personally, I think it works and I think it’s right.
