Standing by – the backstory
This image was made at the corner of highways 364 and 94 near our home. Tens of thousands of cars travel there every day. While walking on a nearby trail I noticed this composition and was intrigued by it. Taken during late fall some color was still on the trees, the tall prairie grass had gone dormant, and the evergreens added a bit of pop and contrast to the dominant barren tree arching above.
Why Standing by? There is a deeper meaning or metaphor than just an intimate landscape on the side of the road. Recently having gone through a season of transition, it would have been easy for my wife and I, and probably wrong, to just figure stuff out on our own. But, that equation leaves God out of the picture. Henry Blackaby once said, “God invites us to become involved with Him in His work, not the other way around.” God is always on mission and always has been. He is active in His creation. He’s not on the sidelines “standing by.”
If you enjoy reading my backstories (many more to come) and would like for your group or organization to see and hear them first hand, please give me a shout. I’m available for presentations, speaking engagements, and other meet the artist type of events.
