Corporate portraits – 101
Can we end the year with a bit of levity? Okay, good!
I used to shoot a lot of corporate portraits. So, I thought I’d add a Corporate Portraits 101 post and see if you can identify these styles of executives in the portraits below. (Images in no particular order)
1 – We have the “Classic 3/4” pose. Probably 50-60% of formal portraits are shot this way. Side lighting with a front fill light and highlighted background. Why? Because they don’t want to be there, so you only have about 8 seconds to get that picture.
2 – The “Visionary.” He or she doesn’t want to look at you because they are too focused on that jillion dollar bonu$ you are going to earn for them!
3 – The “Over the shoulder” portrait. Yep, they’re always looking over their shoulder at who’s trying to climb over their back.
4 – And finally the “I’m up here, you’re down there” portrait. These people always let you know where they are and where you are in the pecking order!
Corporate portraits are for the birds! I think I’ll stick with wildlife.
