One of my top bird portraits of the year
Considering all of the elements; subject, composition, exposure, lighting, etc – I think this is one of my top bird portraits of the year. Nailing the exposure of a very light subject against a dark background isn’t always the easiest thing. Especially if it’s bird feathers. (And the bird doesn’t sit still for more than a few seconds) Blown-out highlights are all to common in such photos. But, I think I’ve captured the effort well in this image of a female red-bellied woodpecker. Care to add your comments? Click on the image to add.
